Advice Please on A Unlocked NEC

Question:
Hi,
I've just had my NEC 338, which was tied to 3, unlocked by a local phone shop. Now I find that when I ring a number using a simcard from another network ( I've tried Virgin mobile and O2 ) I get the same message everytime that they are unable to connect me. Can someone tell me what might have happened and how I should go forward from here?
Many thanks,

uf

its a well known fact with 3 phones once they are unlocked they drop the signal dramatically. i had this with one of the first 3 phones, it may have been resolved now with the later models. my nec would not work on a diff sim if it had a full signal as it would 'drop' as soon as i dialled and i got 'cannot connect' or something similar. it worked fine if i had a half signal though for some reason, so i did research at the time and i discovered it was a common fault with early 3 branded phones once they are unlocked. if it is this it can be resolved by getting it unlocked by someone with experience, as you have to do it slightly differently on the older nec models. it sounds like it has not been fully unlocked for the above reason. hope this helps.

I unlocked a E616v from 3 - we could make calls, but other functions like mms and gprs do not work, even if the phone has been unlocked.
Because these phones were maufactured specifically for 3, you cannot change any of the settings.
I tried for about 3 weeks before giving it up as a bad job and buying a threepay sim card for it.
