Question:
I have this new dell 1300 laptop with a Intel® Celeron® M Processor 370 (1.50 GHz, 1MB L2 Cache, 400 MHz FSB) 760mb ram which is pretty basic.
I am thinking of upgrading to a 10mb internet connection from a 4mb line.
Do you think my laptop could perform at the 10mb speed?
Thoughts appreciated please.
Regards.
Answers:
Most non-wireless networks run at 100Mbps so yes your laptop will comfortably run with a 10Mbps broadband connection.
If you use a wireless network, it is worth ensuring that you use both a 802.11g wireless network card and 802.11g router which run at 54Mbps (20Mbps in the real world).
If you used a 802.11b card or router which runs at 11Mbps (5 Mbps real world), this would create a bottleneck.
Thanks

Spot on. Good advice.
Will you actually get the full 10Mbps? I'm on an 8Mbps service (or upto) but barely manage over two We're quite a distance from the exchange though.
