Question:
Hi all, after much deliberation I have found two ranges of digital cameras which are on my shortlist.
Could anyone please help me choose between the Canon IXUS range and the Sony Cybershot range? (Not sure about models yet)
If you have any other models which might be of interest please add them
My objectives: Pocket size but powerful!

A word of warning: be careful not to read too many reviews because they sometimes highlight technical deficiencies in a camera that won't bother most except the most picky of people. There is no perfect camera out there!
Personally my last two digital cameras were Canon cameras. Canon's been producing cameras for ages, and they do know how to make them. Unfortunately their cameras tend to be a bit expensive compared to similar models from other manufacturers. They also don't usually come with many extras either - so expect to buy your own camera case if you go for a Canon.
