Question:
yesterday my aol kept switching off approx 3 seconds after signing on and just keeps doing the same thing, (do i have a virus) i have scanned and found nothing... i uninstalled aol as it told me to then re-installed it but all my favourites have gone from it aol said i should have saved them but it never gave me the option the favourites are saved by the server (or so i'm told) but they have all gone!!!!! the same happened today regarding the switching off lark so i did the uninstalling again but stll no favourites any ideas you wonderful people
Answers:
AOL DO NOT keep your favourites on a server they are kept in a folder
that when uninstalling you are asked to keep or not to keep, but you are asked
in a wrong way around fashion.
Tick what you would like to keep.. Untick To keep and Vice Versa but I cant
off the top of my head think which way around. and as for spyware thats AOL.

thanks intel someone on aol help live said they were saved also by the server .... and the only option i had for saving anything was 2 checkboxes one was filing cabinet and the other was downloaded files the 1st time i uninstalled i unchecked the 2 boxes, but when realising the favs were gone i sterted to add them again each time i remembered them... but then aol started playing up again so i uninstalled (after repair wouldnt do anything) but this time i left boxes checked and the latest favs i saved weren't there so i've just started saving them on ie instead, any ideas why it was switching off in the 1st place?

you're prob right

its b band, i should do what gunneradt above suggests
Answers:
the problem with aol is that their properietary software takes over your computer. There is no need for it because you have all the software on your pc to connect to the internet already.
