AGP CARD COMPATABIILITY QUESTION. PLEASE HELP/

Question:
I need a new agp card for my motherboard and am looking for a cheap second hand one. my motherboard will run a agp 4x card. and i cam a bit confused. please can some one answer the following questions.
1) my motherboard will run a agp card 4x. will a agp card 2x work? and will a agp card 8x work but run at 4x?
2) will any 4x agp card work in my motherboard or does it has to be specfic one?
3) does the agp card has to be 4x for it to work on my m/b or will any agp card work?
the m/b i have got is a pc chips m810lr which has o/b graphics card but does not work and no signal is inputed through the moniter when pc is turned. i have checked and it is the o/b graphics card that is faulty and i do have a agp slot to put in a new card.

If you mentioned the make and model number of your motherboard then it would be easier to say that you should have no problems. A powerful AGP card will make more demands upon the system power supply. If you were using an onboard graphics card then an AGP card will generate additional heat and may restrict airflow. Consider an extra case cooling fan.
