I want to add an inetrnal DVD R, what do I need to look for?
How fast will I be able to burn a DVD? Would this imporve by adding more memory?

In order to future-proof, go for a 'dual-layer' capable burner. The NEC 3500 and one model by LG seem to be getting some good reviews - there is a thread further down the page with a discussion of the two.
How long to burn a DVD? About the same length as a piece of string.
Seriously: how much data on the DVD, what speed media, max [reliable] speed of your drive, what else your PC is doing, etc, etc.
