Question:
My computer crashed around 1 month ago. Though I have tried almost everything.
My decoder software is missing from my NEC DVD ROM DV 5800A player
It does not play and keeps saying decoder is missing.
Any ideas where I can find the correct decoder or where I can download it from.
Answers:
When you say that the PC 'crashed' what do you mean exactly? That it stopped working and a reboot cured it? Or that something worse happened and the PC had to be rebuilt / Windows had to be reinstalled?
Internal ide dvd drives do not require drivers when used in ANY Windows PC from 95 up thru XP. All support is provided natively by the Windows o/s... not by non-existant drivers.
But you WILL also need dvd decoding software like PowerDVD or WinDVD installed in order to play dvd disks.
Is this the problem???
Answers:
yes that is the problem.
I have downloaded powerdvd on trial offer and it works fine now. Cheers
Answers:
You SHOULD have been provided with a CD containing the original software with the PC.
If you can find that it may save purchasing similar software again.
