AOL Broadband

Question:
Hi, i am thinking of going on AOL broadband and i have just bought a wireless laptop. I would like to know if i can use this router
If not which router can i use? I don't want to spend no more than that one is.
What other broadband companys are there, i hear and have read so many horror stories about it some advice would be good. I have drawn up a list of 3:
Talk talk
AOL
Tiscali
Good points and bad would be appreciated.
I did look on the stick thread about wireless but couldn't find anything on routers with aol.
Thanks Neil

don't do it........

anybody but AOL

for starters the software takes over your whole computer, and it's waaaaay overpriced compared to others.... I'm sure some tecchy will come along and give better reasons too, but don't fall for their trap!

But i never hear a horror story about connection or customer service? It is reasonably priced at £14.99 for 1mb and there seems to be loads of security thrown in. What about the other 2?

i'll second that. aol uses proprietary software completely necessarily. ive lost count of the number of pcs ive been called to remove their software from.

AOL is founded on IE as AOL bought code form MS to use as a Browser
design foundation.. And did you also know AOL bought into Time Warner
then AOL tried to stop Warner home video thus voiding a part of their contract with Warner so Warner removed AOL from their screenings.
1, A Time Warner Production
2, An AOL Time Warner Production.

Top four at the moment, in terms of performance, reliability and customer service appear to be (in no particular order):
Zen
IDNet
NewNet
Eclipse
Zen are always the stand out but expensive.
Take a look at the others and see if there's a package that suits your needs at an acceptable price.

My original question was wether the router posted above would work on aol? Apparently it isn't worth considering going with them then? So who should i part with cash for? Is the router above any good it seems to have very good reviews and is reasonably priced, is there a cheaper one which is as good? Is talk talk broadband any good? I don't really want to spend any more than £15 ish a month on broadband.
Thanks Neil

If you are going to be a light user (mainly surfing and e-mail) IDNet has a good 2 meg deal for £14.99 pcm.
That's a very good router and is also future proofed for when 8 meg connections become much more widely available this year.
