Hi,
I have some video files that I want to burn to a DVD that I can use on my Sony player. I thought about using Nero but that doesn't seem to work as it asks for Video and Audio files - the files I have seem to be mpeg files.
From my hard drive they open straight into my Cyberlink DVD player and work fine. Can I just burn them direct to a DVD?

You cannot just copy files from your hard disk onto a DVD and expect them to work unless they are already in the correct format (.vob files). To create these files you will need a DVD video authoring program. I am not aware of any free ones. Personnaly I use Pinnacle Studio which is one of the lower priced ones (Still not cheap though) and can also be found bundled with new PC's. You could try one of the shareware ones on the net eg at .

If your DVD player supports .wma, Divx, Xvid etc then you can use nero to burn them as a data disk and they should play fine.
If your DVD player does not support the formats though you will need to convert them so that the DVD player can read them like ffym outlined, it's a real pain and can take a long time.

Basically, convert your video files for Mpeg2 and use something like Nero to create a movie DVD. Then simply drag and drop the video files in the selection screen and Nero will create you the video.
