just to let you know that my lappy still hasnt been collected but thanks for all your help anyway, i got a new very basic pc today basically becase i am impatient. thanks for all your advice with the lappy, i will keep that anyway when its fixed.

well earlier i was using my brother pc but i wanted my own back lol, i know i cant say away from here as well as my usuall forums now lol

Just a general observation on why a lot of people get into debt these days. Everyone must have the lastest phone or 3/playstation/blouse/PC/Car etc.., buy it on credit, get into debt troubles. Then they take out an even bigger loan to consilidate the debt (or re-mortgage), then blow the extra bit on more phones, OTT wedding reception, designer clothes, holiday. Then max out their credit cards to buy food..It's a downward spiral.. usually caused by impatience, keeping up with the Jones's or comfort shopping.
The only thing I would borrow for, is a house - because house price inflation always tends to eat up anything that the average individual can save..

well i work a month behind anyway ie i get paid the end of each month so i will get paid on the 30th of this month but i will be unable to spend that money till the 30th of febuary (thats not including all bills). Then at least a quarter of that money is put into savings, its the way i work and have never worked it any other way.
i dont agree with credit either albertross, this world is money minded, it sends me mad, if i cant pay for it with cash then i will not buy it, yes i was very impatient with this, it prob would have been fixed in a month but everyday i go on my com (sugestion of the id) so not being able to get online is very frustrating lol

Is that a better laptop than you had? If it brand new, and has 1GB of ram, you are up on the deal, so the extended warranty has paid off (for once). You can put the RAM on ebay, but it won't be worth much.

yes and it records dvd (dont know how to do it though lol) and has more ram etc, yes it has, i have taken it out on the new one too, i know you would prob say its not worth it but this is for 5 years and i will be very supprised if it lasts 5 years lol. might just leave it in the bottom of a drawer then lol, it will make it to teh bin sometime lol, thanks for all your help again albertross

5 years is about £72 for three payments over 9 months - it couldnt be carried over as the one that i wanted £600 wasnt in stock so the one i got - the link above - was £30 more expensive instore so as i had to pay for more they wouldnt carry over the remainder - a three year would have been £68 so i am basically paying £12 for 2 more years so in all its a good deal (well i think anyway).
i have norton internet securitry but have activated it should i? do i need to buy another aniti virus software too or will that be enough?

have or haven't activated it..? you need something protecting you. also, make sure the pc is patched with windowsupdate, firewall is enables, and install some anti-spyware software (if norton doesn't include it). Microsoft anti-spyware, ad-aware etc.. see the sticky threads for more options.

i didnt but now i am not on the laptop and back on the pc, it wouldnt allow me on msn due to firewall blocker and i couldnt sign into ebay etc etc do to security certificates??? so i am going to keep my pc for the internet and use my lappy for gaming at the mo, mum now wishes i took the vouchers and got a flat screen for this but thats life i suppose, at least i will have it as a back up if the pc goes wrong thansk for all you help anyway
