My kids are currently watching Spiderman, well the older two are anyway, but the colour on the screen is up the creek. They are watching it in almost black and white with the odd colour flashing up. It's not the DVD film as it's happening with all DVD's, is it the DVD player or is it the scart lead?

Sounds like the scart could be very slightly out easily happens. Check the scart at either end, tv and DVd and reinsert them, see if that helps.
