Can't View My Photo's On Pc :(

Question:
Hello - techno thickie here! I got a digital camera for Christmas and I've installed the viewer (ulead photo explorer 8.0) onto my PC fine, downloaded some photo's and a video fine, watched them fine, but then I logged out and back in and my photo's are there in my documents, but all I can see now instead of the thumbnail images is a grey square with the microsoft windows emblem in the middle and then 667kb in the bottom right corner. When I click on it to open I get an error message saying "There is no application associated with the given file name or extension" Don't have a clue why this is but I've deleted the images off my camera now so I can't redo them! How do I change it so i can see the photo's again? Many thanks

What is the extension on the file? That's the bit after the filename - e.g. a jpg photo would be somephotoname.jpg. If you can't see a dot after the name of the file, go to Tools > Folder Options. Click the View tab then untick the box that says "Hide extensions for known file types." Click OK. Go back to the photo and you should now see the filename plus a dot then another 3 characters. What are those 3 characters?

It just says File! Unticked the "Hide extensions box" and reopened it. When I go via My Docs and right click to get the properties it says Type of file: File

When I go via My Docs and right click to get the properties it says Type of file: File If it is just a "File" then there isn't an extension. Try going into your scanner program again, but save the document as a "JPG" image or some other image format like "GIF". You should then be able to add this to your File Types list and select the program to open it with.
