Computer switches itself off!!

Question:
I hope, my computer do hang on until the 29th January when the dell sale starts. I urgently need a new one, my present keeps switching itself off in the middle of searching, everything went black and the computer goes dead. It only restarted after I unplug and plug again. Please can somebody recommends a good computer when the sale starts. It is also possible I will have to buy on the phone since the computer is playing up. Shame I will miss on r points, looks I will have to to go PC world. Is the Packard Bell 1 Media 1538 selling about £600 any good? Also what's the support is like? What number do I ring for Dell, is there a geographical number, also is it worthy to buy the the three years' basic support. I know some of you buy from Dell. How easy are they to set up. When I bought my present computer from Tiny, it was so easy to set up as it comes colour coded, I do not know nuch about Dell. Not sure whether I will haveto pay somebody to set up or have a go myself. What I like when buying in a shop is you get good customer service. I would appreciate your help, thanks a lot.

sounds like a knackerred power supply, you can buy a new psu for about £20-£25, much cheaper than a new pc.
If you buy a dell pc, the hardware and software is pretty much configured when you get it, just the general things to do like connecting the monitor, plugging in the mouse etc.

Hi
I've had my Dell acouple of months now, very pleased with it. Its a Dimension 5150, cost me £610 inclusive, includes an very nice 19" TFT Monitor, if you go to Dells website you, you start off with the basic system from Dell, then it takes you throught other pages, where you can upgrade/downgrade parts if you want to.
If your not bothered about a 3yr warranty, which Dell put by default, make sure you change to 12mths collect and return, saves you £100+
They only give you a recovery disc, (not xp) which is fine if your not going to partition or change any setups.
Everything is set up for you, like CIS says, all you have to do is plug in your printer, speakers, mouse and keyboard, modem and away you go, very very easy.
Have a look here to see the latest offers from Dell
here Dells website
Hope this helps
Merry Christmas

Thanks for your advice. I have seen the 9150 in the daily mail, do you know what's the difference between the two? As I am quite a newbie, I will need a computer that is ready to go and I honestly do not know what to look for. I guess, I will have to ring CS, what number do you use to ring, is there a geographical number. I am just hoping the computer will hang on a bit longer so that I can order online and claim rpoints. Thanks again.
