Question:
I have had a LOGIX DVD Player for just over 3 years now, that plays DVDs, VDS, MP3, etc.. and it has now developed a fault. Whenever I play a DVD after about 30minutes it starts skipping and jamming. The video starts and stops every 2 seconds. However if I play a VCD or an mp3 CD it works fine. I have tried a DVD head cleaning cd but this has not made any difference. Any suggestions on how to fix this problem?
Answers:
It could be the laser is failing on the player and is only noticable when playing DVD's as VCD's and MP3 playing would not put the laser under as much stress as when playing a DVD.
The price of DVD players these days which play multi-region, vcd,mp3,etc (around £20.00) makes it not worth repairing a faulty unit.
Answers:
Clutching at straws but is the media you are playing clean/grease free.

That's definitely a laser fault, I'm afraid, most probably linked in with the layer change that occurs on most commercial DVDs (hence the reason VCDs/CDs play fine - no dual layer). Uneconomical to repair - bag a £20 jobbie for any High St supermarket instead.

Thanks for your advise. Any recommendations for a cheap DVD Player? I would prefer one that can play divx movies as well.
