Question:
I have a problem.
One of my mates has recently installed BT Broadband.
Installed fine. Works fine.
But..
the line is going mental when you put an ordinary phone through a filter.
The automated operator after a couple of seconds chimes in with a "this number cannot be connected.
The phone works fine when it's NOT put through a filter.
THIS IS HAPPENING WITHOUT COMPUTER/MODEM being connected to the line.
Just the phone & a filter.
BT have completed the line tests and say the line's fine. They're sending out 2 more filters.
At the moment he has to disconnect the phones to use the broadband and vice versa.
Anybody else ever come across this problem?
Answers:
how many phone sockets in his house are being used? i.e. how many have things pluged in.)
to many any this sort of problem will be occur. max limit i believe is 4 (ren number is the term).
every output from the BT line that is being used should use a asdl filter
Answers:
Probably the filters - I was sent ***t filters by BT which didn't work, they replaced with 2 more which didn't work, eventually we just bought our own and they worked fine.
Answers:
It was at the master socket. Nothing else plugged in except a buck standard phone through a filter.
I'll go with gizmo. I'll try my own filter, see how that goes.

Sorted. BT had sent out 2 dodgy filters..

Somehow, that doesn't surprise me

would that be the same for me? as i have Btbroadband and it to is connected to the main phone socket via a 5m phone line extension, we dont have a normal phone itsa cordless one.
The internet works absolutly fine but when the router is switched on there is quite a loud shushing noise (sorry only way i know how to describe it lol) on the phone line when u try to make a call, the only way to remedy it is by turning the router off and then it goes away immediatly. Could this be a faulty filter from BT? although i have had them send out more filters the problem still remains.
BT have also done a line test and they have said that the line too is absolutly fine any advice much appreciated guys
