Everyone loves ccleaner
You're quite safe deleting anything it suggests
(With the registry cleaner bit it offers to backup anyway)

Please how often do you use ccleaner? Do you keep all the back up if everything is OK or can you safely delete them afterwards? Thanks

Another fan here aswell - you could also try CleanUp
Clean up is similar to CCleaner but will also clean the crap from other user accounts.

Make sure you click on the 'Issues' button on the left hand side, and run that too!

Another fan here - used for about 6 months on several machines with no problems at all!
Make sure you click on the 'Issues' button on the left hand side, and run that too!
This option even asks if you want to back up the registry before you check!

I've been using CCleaner for about a year. It's very good. Also the 'Issues' option removes old registry entries, unused file types, obsolete DLL files and so on.

I use it couple of times a day, I never had a problem. I also set it up in options/custom and add a folder c:\documents\My user name\local settings\temp to remove temporary files.
You may have to set xp to view hidden folders in tools\view\show hidden folder.
I have a couple fo pcs that have several users so that way I can set several usernames and remove temporary files.

I have used ccleaner but was wondering if there is a way to remove 'Past Items' from the notification area.
I have a look at this every now and again and have noticed that some of the older ones have gone but would like to get rid of any that belong to programs that I no longer use such as Norton, etc. Some of the older ones dissapeared by themselves.
There doesn't seem to be an option for removing them, Any Suggestions?
