I know Pentium 4 is the best processor but which is next? Is it the Pentium M?
A friend is after a laptop and wants to spend about £1k, ideally he wants the best he can get for his money, is after a light one with DVD and CD RW, as well as a decent processor and memory. Any recommendations?

Yes u r right, the Pentium 4 is the fastest.
However Intel designed the Pentium M processor specifically for laptops. This means your laptop battery lasts much longer. I would not recommend laptops holding desktop PC processors such as the P4. Infact its been a while since I checked, but perhaps most manufacturers do use the Pentium M now.

You may want to consider AMD (manufacturer) processors. I can not fault them either.
