Question:
I've bought my sister an Olympus FE 5500 Digital camera for Christmas and need to get a memory card to go with it. I think I need an XD picture card but am baffled by all the different manufacturers out there. Please can somebody offer some advice.
TIA
Joanne
Answers:
You definitely need an XD card. Try , I've bought from them a few times. I would go for a card in the region of 256/512mb, budget restrictions permitting. 7dayshop do the Olympus branded cards as well.

I too have just bought exactly the same camera (but for my daughter!). You definitely need an "XD" card as has already been mentioned. The 2 principal types are Fuji and Olympus. However there is a difference - the Fuji will not work with what is called the "panorama" function on the camera - (I think a very wide angled screen shot). Generally (but not always) the Fuji tend to be slightly cheaper.
As far as size is concerned the 128MB will take just over 100 pics (256MB double that number etc) using standard setting - but the camera does have a video function which will swallow up the memory...leaving less for pics! Depending on the likely usage you would probably need either 128 or 256MB. Check the above recommended sites - but don't forget Amazon - they are competitive too (free postage over £15)....right now I'd probably go for the Olympus 256MB at Amazon - £17.90 delivered.
