Dropping connection

Question:
Hi
Wonder if anybody can suggest a solution for a connection problem I have? I have set up my home network using ethernet/wireless from a Netgear DG834GT router on Virgin broadband. It worked fine to start with but increasingly loses the connection and I have to re-boot the router and sometimes the computer as well.
This is happening more and now seems to last less than an hour before I have to take action. Any suggestions for where the problem might be so that I can sort it out?
TIA
Mr T
Answers:
Hello Mr T
When did these problems occur? We have Virgin adsl at my GF's house in worthing - for about a week now it had been dropping out (convinced its a virgin problem). I have to reboot the router and sometimes the laptop to resolve. Perhaps they cannot hanldle the traffic after the service upgrade to 2mbps.

It's a known problem with the DG834GT. Do you know which firmware you are running. You're not alone though, check out the near 1,000 posts in this thread alone:
If it's the 0.28 firmware you're running then that's quite buggy, if you look around you should be able to find the 0.30 firmware. It's still beta and not officially released, but it does help improve things.
Mine doesn't drop adsl connection anymore, but it still locks up any wirelessy connectivity every so often and requires a reboot. It was a bargain at the £53 I got it from Amazon (with the WG111T usb adapter which I've now sold as it's crap too) but I often wonder if the money saved was worth it.
