Question:
I have a Samsung Writemaster burner (not sure model number) which has been burning Datawrite Red 4x speed discs without any problem.
I am now using Ridisc Blues 8x but am having problems getting them to burn sucessfully every time
Would the firmware need updated and if so why does it burn ok sometimes?

Does your writer support 8X burning and are both discs the same format i.e. DVD-R or DVD+R as some writes only support one format.
You could update the firmware but I would check the above first if not already done

It looks like those with the later burners have the best results.

You will need the model number to go any further as WriteMaster is a catch all title.

yup if your writer supports x 8 but you have not updated the aspi layer/firmware on the burner then it will not burn to the faster speeds. this would only really be the case if the writer was one of the first x 8 recorders but no firmware upgrades have been done.
