Dell often do good deals in the slow period at the end of January but the prices after xmas will depend on how much stock the shops are stuck with , if they sell out then no good deals

Thinking along the same lines but with a slightly longer time horizon, I'm thinking of getting a new laptop as I've had mine about 3 or 4 years now but with Windows threatening to bring out a new system next year, might it be advisable to wait as retailers may try to offload XP jobs cheaply in order to acquire the new kit ? Does anybody know when the new system is due to be released ?

Pretty good deal if your looking for something cheap Its a decent deal, but the RAM is a bit on the low side, you should look at factoring into the cost buying some extra RAM.

If they are on offer after xmas I doubt they would be any less than I paid, so...
There was another great offer on the same laptop last week (Inspiron 6000, for £500).

However, you have to put up with playing air computer until you buy it... That was my reasoning. If I had waited I probably wouldn't be on MSE right now...

there is never a good time to buy.
Buy something now, 2 weeks later something else you like is on the market.
Wait 3 months, no laptop, then buy, 2 weeks later something else you like is on the market.
Do your research now and buy. Do not look back
