Aldi graphics tablet

Question:
From next Thursday, Aldi have a for £25 (cunningly pictured with a child using it to make it look bigger!). Any thoughts? I don't really understand the difference between them. I've noticed that some of them require batteries for the pens and some don't. This doesn't state which.
Answers:
The Aldi one has always been recommended by people on here who have bought it in the past so I am sure someone will come along and comment on it.
I have thought before about buying it but wondered if it would be one of those gadgets that end up not being used

I bought one over a year ago - I've never used the mouse - much prefer my microsoft optical.
I do use the tablet every day .................................................. .... to place the junk on that congregates in front of mt TFT screen. I can seriously say that I've not found any other use for this. Even my techie sons is not interested. On the flip-side I do know someone who does a lot of webdesign who uses nothing else - I think the answer is that you'll have to decide.

Its fine I got one last Febuary I dont use it much and not at all the mouse as my wireless one is much better. The pen uses batteries mine was supplied cant recall the mouse as I shoved it away somewhere unused.

Thank you both. No great shakes that the mouse isn't up to much, but I am a little worried that a pen containing batteries will be clumsy. Maybe I should go an play with them in PC World or something!
I do know that this one will be used - it's for my partner who's talented at drawing and has been asking for one.
A further complication is that it would be nice to use it under Linux, but without knowing the manufacturer I'd be unable to see how much support it has from the open source community.

Its made by Tevion. Its okay for normal use, although if I was an artist I think it would be wiser to pay a lot more.
I use it mainly for photo editing, cloning particularly.

I got one of these a couple of years ago and they are excellent. Never used the mouse in the pack so can't comment on it. The battery in the pen lasts about 6 months with normal use. It's got a draw area of A4 size.
Wacom are the best, but for an A4 size one you've had to pay over £200, so for £25 this is good value
It takes abit of getting used to at first, took me about a month, I'm not a good drawer, but I use it for touching up photos which is alot easier than using a mouse
Answers:
It'll be Tevion or Medion - was around £30 2 years ago and great for touching up photos. Pen is slightly heavier than a Wacom, but it's only an AAA battery so not that noticeable. I wasn't too keen on the mouse either (same with Wacom by the way) - better than a corded mouse, but not as good as a wireless although software driver may have improved by now...

Its actually really large.
Mines been put away because i have lack of space! however, as soon as I get a wireless keyboard and mouse, i'll set it up again.
Personally I didn't find it very accurate - doesn't coordinate with the screen very well. Maybe it was just my setup! And I think mine was £20?!???

Italiastar: fortunately there is little doubt that this will be well-used! I see probably the same one went for £40 on recently.

Hi,
Does anyone know whether or not this item is compatible with let's say Paintshop Pro, GIMP, or PhotoImpact (or similar), i'd like to use one of these for editing photos and possibly for putting together own artwork as opposed to using a mouse which imho is quite difficult to use for such tasks.
The box on this item is huge!. Not sure whether or not the bundled mouse is likely to be used though :-(.
Thank you.
Best Regards.
Answers:
Yes it works for Paintshop Pro X.

I bought two the other day. Works out of the box under Linux (SuSE 10), like so many things do, but won't admit on the packaging.
