Question:
I heard a vague description of a device I could connect to my television in the lounge that has an NTL digital connection and bounce that signal to other TVs in the house via a red electronic "eye" connected to those TVs. We couldn't watch multiple channels it would just bounce the signal from the main NTL box. Has anyone got any information on this at all?

You need an AV Sender. I got my girlfriend a from Dixons, product number 833358.

It's £40 but I got it for £25 in a dixon's sale a few months ago. It will work on both sky and ntl for changing channels from another room. Obviously both rooms will be watching the same channel.

I think you are referring to 'video senders' , see this thread -
The main problem will be the quality of the video sender unit and the distance between the sender and receiver and any obstructions (ie walls) which may corrupt the signal between the two.
Another way of doing this, is by having a RF distribution system. If you already have TV points in the rooms in which you want to watch NTL all connected to an incoming aerial, you could install a distribution amplifier (which you may already have) and feed a signal from the NTL box to this. It would then send a signal to your aerial sockets. To control the NTL box you would need either Infra Red (or RF) transmitters and a receiver at the NTL box. I have such a system to enable me to view Sky at multiple locations in my house.
If you don't already have TV aerial sockets in your rooms, I think it would be cheaper and easier to explore the video sender option first.

the distribution works fine, the IR sender to chasnge channels though isn't as easy with NTL, they use a different system that doesn't work with a lot of video senders unlike Sky
