Question:
Really struggling with christmas this year!! Any sites around for cheap bikes please?.....Thanks in advance.
Answers:
sterling house sells them for £49 I think, they have a website

I's also worth clarifying what you want to use them for? A £50 bike really will start to fall apart quite quickly if someone takes it out off road a couple of times a week.
If its just a bike for pootling around then thats fine. if you want a serious bike for a specific purpose, let us know the purpose, there are a couple of other places to get good bikes "cheap".

I bought my son his bike from ebay - but the company is called Parkers of Bolton. Very reputable company and you can always check what their own web-price is against the ebay price. I have seen them go for more. If you live in the vicinity, you can pick up yourself, as I did and save the p&p. They do all sorts of bikes and accessories. I think most of them are mail order returns, but I was very happy with mine. I can't find a website address for them- last time I found it via some strange link. Maybe you could ring them, or maybe they just sell via auction houses now.

I can highly recommend Sterling House for mountain bikes, I purchased 2 from them 3 years ago, one for me and one for my wife.
Both still going strong.
I would suggest if you have the cash to go for the newer suspension models if you intend going off-road on them. (Stops your bum hurting)
Hope this helps

MAKRO are great for bikes, but this is a cash and carry warehouse. You also need a trade card (i.e., be self employed or know someone who is).
The mountain bikes are as little as £49.99 plus VAT, and I was riding one for 3 years before I upgraded. It is still in working order.
