I want to buy a SIM card, prepay, which gives good overseas coverage and relatively cheap texts to and from abroad.
Does anyone know the best network for this??

probably best bet is to go with Virgin, then set up a direct debit. they are probably the cheapest.
BTW if you are going away for a long time, it would be better to get a local sim card.

virgin piggyback's T-Mobile. when you go abroad, you roam on another network. T-Mobile has roaming agreements with other networks, so you are dependant on the coverage of the other networks.
in most major countries T-Mobile has roaming agreements with more than one carrier, so you normally don't have a problem finding a problem.
