There's a Goodman's at Argos for £149 - I haven't used it but our friends have one and are quite pleased with it.

I've had the Digifusion one for a year, can highly recommend it.

The Goodman's at Argos is a Freeview DVD recorder rather than a HDD recorder.
I've had a Humax PVR 8000T which you can buy for £133 at , however this only has a single tuner so you cannot record and watch a programme at the same time.
The Humax PVR 9200T is coming out at the end of September and that should be an excelent box with lots more features (80 hours recording time, record and playback another recording at the same time, etc). However, this box keeps on getting delayed, so it might be after that. However it should be an excellent box for less than £200.
On most of them you can programme via the EPG and it really is a doddle, however remember Freeview Recorders can only record off Freeview, you can't plug in anything else like your Sky box and record off that.

That is a DVD recorder not a hard disc recorder.

The Dixon/Curry's one will be the Humax 40gb single tuner - think it's been around the £170 mark for the last year or so. You can currently get a twin tuner 80gb for around the same price (Sagem box at Argos) and I think there are several others in the pipeline (see EdCov's post). The Curry's one really needs £40 or so knocked off...

There's a Sagen one at Argos for £130. I've had my eye on it for a while, especially as my housemate keeps promising to buy a Freeview box but never comes through. Sad to say it, but I miss my BBC3.

I recently bought the Digifusion 40GB freeview box with twin tuners. I thought for £125 I couldn't expect anything too fantastic......just shows how wrong you can be.
Now I can record two channels and watch a recording at the same time or timeshift two channels at the same time or record one and timeshift another, it's great and the tuners are so much better than the one built into my Sony tv, quick to tune in and less breakup.
It has a 14 day EPG and is easy to use, even the missus can cope with it.
Check it out here
there is also an 80gig version if you want to record more than you could ever possibly watch.
