I want Freeview - do I need an aerial?

Question:
We don't have a roof aerial so does that rule out freeview for us?
Answers:
Our aerial is in our loft...and we get freeview. However, this comes with a very large caution. Ours was installed by a 'professional aerial bod' and even after he used all his gismos to set it up right he said that he didn't think that we'd beable to receive freeview.

Not willing to believe him off we went to buy a box...and hey presto it worked. We then told some friends, who decided to fit an aerial themselves and to give it a try. To cut a long story short....they have sky.

I know of people with set top aerials that work. The best method - borrow a friends box if you can

I used to run my freeview off one of the metal loop ariels that you get with cheap tv's and it was ok, granted didn't get all the channels but got 50% and that was out in the sticks. Would recommend as above, borrow one off a friend and try it before buying!

or borrow one from Tesco or Asda if no friend is willing to lend one. Their returns policy is much more favourable than Argos' as long as you package it back up OK

We have a set top aeriel and have had no problems. Took a gamble 1/2 thinking it wouldn't work but it did.

I have a set top aerial and freeview copes on a good day, but it can be very tempremental and seems to wait until I'm really getting into the programme before it starts popping and clicking and freezing the picture.

I was advised by local shop that if i can receive c5 then freeview should work so try this first. Borrow a friends freeview for a few hours?

Both my kids have freeview - both have had to have proper aeriels installed
Answers:
Works with a £5 set top aerial in Cardiff.
Answers:
1. Do a postcode search
2. Try with a friends box, and whatever you are using now (its a matter of time before they work out why all those boxes are coming back as 'faulty' and customers ask for refunds, and they tighten the policy like argos have).
