Question:
I am looking for a cheap pair of Oakley sunglasses either in shop, via web or imported (wish I had bought a pair while I was in USA). May consider getting them done to prescription if someone knows a place that does them for a reasonable cost.
Answers:
I believe Oakley are very strict on pricing - retailers have little (if any) room to offer discounts.
Answers:
If you go to a big shows theres sometimes a tradestand selling discounted Oakleys but like Wallace says, its not a huge discount.
This site seems to have them at a reasonable price and they offer prescription lenses in some of them too:
Pretty pricey with prescription lenses though - it'd be cheaper to get contact lenses!!!

There's an outlet shop here in Gunwharf, Portsmouth where they sell them a bit cheaper. I've got some Wires which were £110, which is £30-£50 cheaper than the shops depending on the style that you want.
I haven't been in there in a while so I don't know if they have lots of stock that changes regularly, or if you have to go in regularly in order to find a nice pair that you like.

As mentioned, Oakley are pretty strict with their dealers about how their products can be sold.
Buying from the US by mail order is worth a try, but you might get stung for duty, but even then you are likely to get a good deal.
eBay is risky for getting brand name goods like Oakley, but I have bought quite a lot of Oakley stuff with no problems. As with all auction purchases you need to either buy from a large reputable seller or a small private seller who has good feedback and plenty of photos. One seller I bought from was a sponsored golfer, I got an M-frame, case and nearly every lens you could own for less than the cost of a frame and single lens.
The Gunwharf shop is worth a look if you are in the area, they mainly sell last season's clothing at discount but they do have eyewear in stock.

The above threads are correct Oakley pricing is strict. However I have been an Oakley fan for years and their customer service is second to none.
Here's why, Once your oakleys are more than one year old the warranty runs out. If after this period you have a problem with them you simply send the glasses back to Oakley UK (it doesn't matter where in the world you bought them) with a cheque for £10 and they repair/replace the defect & re-instate the warranty for a further 12 Months.
They do not replace the lenses unless there is a manufacturing defect but they do re-fit the originals to the repaired/replaced frames.
Here is the good bit. I sent a pair back to them missing an arm because I lost it, they were Full metal jackets and a replacement arm could not be matched so they replaced the entire frame. If you buy expensive glasses then I assume you look after the lenses as much as possible so technically as long as this is the case you have your Oakleys for ever with the odd £10 warranty payment as and when you damage them.
This makes them possibly the best priced designer sunglasses on the market.
Do not have anyone but Oakley fit prescription lenses to their frames. I did this against all advice and sure enough they broke after a short period of time.
Oakley can fit prescriptions to most of their frames, agreed it is expensive but if you follow the above advice the cost diminishes with time if you look after the lenses.

I have a pair of M-Frames and agree that their customer service is great.
if your worried about your glasses falling off get a cord so they dont. depending on the glasses you can put them round your neck when they are not being worn.
i know having a cord does detract from the design but it does mean they dont get greasy from being on your head.
I bought a good looking ones from D&A opticians for £2.99 - i think - with rubber bits that slide on that can sit near hinge on arm.

Never tried these but they were recommended on this site a while ago.
Sorry I don't know how to create the link.

There's also for quality lookalikes, can't see any Oakley though so that's a bit pointless hehe.

Ok I think I've found a good website for getting cheap oakleys. I was after a pair of minutes but I have found a website with some discount older styles - eye jacket 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0. How do these compare to minutes (and how do eye jacket 1.0 and 3.0's compare to each other) - and do you think I should buy eye jackets at half the price of minutes. probably the most important thing is the size of the glasses (what size are minutes and eye jackets in comparison with each other - I am a man and understand minutes are primarily for ladies). Also is the colour pearl actually silver or white. I really like the lighter silver colour but would prefer not to get white ones (it looks like the light silver one in the pics)
thanks

Try , they're based in Folkestone and very competively priced.
I got my last pair of half-jackets from them. Great customer service after a momumental mess-up meant that I was given a full refund and allowed to keep the sunglasses and case I had ordered.

Ok I've bought a pair of original eye jackets from shadestation.co.uk for £45 - seems quite reasonable (what do you lot think) and if I want to upgrade I'd think I'd be able to get the money back from ebay. Note when you place an order with them they offer you a chance to send a £10 off £50 spend voucher to 2 friends - could be handy!

I placed an order with site91. Dont use em, Orders takes absolutely ages from my experience and they NEVER respond to emails.

There is a maximum of + & - 4 Dioptres on most wrap round sunglasses. I have seen others attempt stronger but the distortion on the lenses is horrendous. Ruup and Hubrecht can supply wrap round prescription lenses but they are expensive. Just find a knowledgeable optician as the measurements are different than normal specs.
