Argos do seats, and I think are pretty good too, but with the postage it may not be so good.

I query very much that you can find child seat for a bike with rear suspension . Even a decent rear pannier rack is a problem because it cannot be fixed to the moving part of the frame (that bears rear weel). And you cannot use front carrier because of Y-shape of the frame.

Pete,

How old's the child? I'd think that grumbler has a point. The only playce to fix things on full suss bikes would be the seat post. I'd say that all that weight off your seatpost would be too much...

Something else to consider of your kid's old enough is the trailgator see the website below. Basically it hooks up to your childs bike effectively making them an instand tandem.... I've see children as young as 4 on them, but might not be the kind of thing you're after....

See for more details. A lot of bike shops stock them, so your local place may have one you can take a look at to see if its for you?

My Boy is 3 next month so maybe a bit young for most ideas, but certainly some good reading.

take your bike to halfords or local bike shop where there is a bike expert together with height and weight of child and get them to fix appropriate seat/size.

a 3yr old will not fit in a rear bike seat - although they are still within the weight guidelines for the seats, they are just too cumbersome to try and bike with
the biggest constraint for you is the fact your bike is full suss. a 3yr old usually fits well on a crossbar seat (not an option for you), or you could prob get one years use out of a trailer - but really your child is at that in between age, getting too big to fit on your bike, but not big enough to ride alone
if you had a just 2yr old, then the expense of a trailer would be worth it, however even buying one just for a years use would prob be ok, as they have a really good resale value - although most of these fit to the rear stay with a clamp, so one thing to look at is the shape of your tubing, if its more than 1cm in diameter, or oval, then the clamp isnt going to fit
again, the trail-gator would be a good buy in about a year or twos time - the biggest prob is although you are doing alot of the peddling, they still get tired, and sleeping isnt an option, else they fall off - i wouldnt recommned one for a child under school age, unless its a 5min to the park and back bikeride - its more ideal for getting an older child (say 7yrs) used to riding on roads safely, and meaning you can go on slightly longer rides

check out ebay and the local freeads for trailers, as you won't be needing it too long.

Also stick a wanted ad up in local newsagents and cycling shops.
