i think i wanna Game Boy Advance (Pre-owned) ?

Question:
Out looking for a birthday present for my son today, trying to decide between a Game Boy Advance SP or Nintendo DS. Decided that as a new GBA was still around the £70 mark I may as well pay a bit extra and get the NDS. However, while I was in Game I noticed that they were advertising pre-owned GBAs plus a (pre-owned) game for £29.97. They had a selection of consoles behind the counter, some in better condition than others (ie. casing scratched) but apparently they test them all and guarantee them for 3 months. Oddly, the GBA on it's own is marked at £39.97 but you get £10 off if you take a game off their hands...

They brought out a huge selection of games (in a carrier bag!) but all unboxed and most without instructions. Some of the consoles had extras with them like travel pouches, etc. but what they have in store is down to luck on the day.

Index has new GBAs in the closing down sale for £55.99 (without a game) but as there aren't any bundles available the cumulative price of console+game+accessory pack wasn't any cheaper than the deals that eg. Argos have on at the moment.

Were these pre-owned Game Boy Advances or Game Boy Advance SPs These are Game Boy Advance SPs, sorry if that wasn't clear!
Answers:
TBH, I would get a Nintendo DS for your son. The GBA is getting old already and if I was him I would want the DS
