Answers:
We use those Henry & George type ones - the coloured ones with faces.
They work well in cleaning the vans & cars, as well as in the house!!
Look cute too!

Upright, cylinder or tub, The last two have more suck and tend to be cheaper.

My brother's a carpet fitter - in his work nearly everyone recommend Henry's and I suppose they would know. I've also noticed that most office cleaners use them. I've got one and it's the best hoover I've had and cheap! However I know how Mum's know best so you might have trouble persuading her.

I've beaten my Henry to death, it's fallen down the stairs, in fact I could get arrested for the abuse my Henry has taken.... Still works great. !You never see any Henry's at the the local dump/re-cycle centre...plenty of Dysons with fried motors..

Please don't say all those terrible things about Dysons, I love mine, (bought in the Argos sale with Nectar points and bonus coupons), I love him, he's an honerary house member, the best vaccuum cleaner I've ever met, please don't say he's going to leave me, it will not be the same not seeing the dirt whizzing round, how will I get through the hoovering without him ???

I also love my Dyson, my first one also lasted 7 years, I'm now on my second one, I bought it cheap off the internet, they had them in Kwiks last week for £120.00. I also seen some cheap hoovers in Tesco last night, cant remember the make but it was around £39.00. ;D ;D ;D

I also love my dyson. Only had it 6 months but it's a fab toy. Never done so much hoovering since i got it. Got it from bargain crazy.com. They do ex catalouge stock so was only £126.00. Quick delivery too. Can't see any dyson's on their at the mo, but they do have other hoover's. It's worth checking every few days tho as they change their stock quite regulary.
Good luck

I recommend the Sebo. They are often used in commercial environments but they also manufacture for home consumers.
I was told that most vacuum cleaners are only made to last a year. If they last longer than that you are lucky. The Sebo is made to last 5 years. You get a long warranty but I can't remember how long. We've been using ours for around 12 years and never had to spend anything on repairs etc. OK it's not cheap. I think it's around £200 full price, but you may be able to get it cheaper elsewhere. We have an upright, but they have other models.
