There's some useful advice
I would probably start by looking in my local supermarket once I'd decided the features I wanted.

One of the best Freeview boxes it seems is the Sony VTX-D800U. I am trying to buy one at the mo, I think it has been recently discontinued (?). The RRP is £123, they are going for about £80 used on eBay. During the course of my searches I discovered that Argos are selling off their stock of these new at £49.49 (Cat. number 532/0369). Unfortunately all the Argos stores within reasonable distance of where I live have sold out, but the OP may be luckier. You can check stock of your local store on the Argos website but this item is excluded from home delivery.
BTW does anyone know if Sony are about to bring out a new box, or if my best bet is to buy one on eBay. (I definitely want a Sony, so I can use it with my Smartlink Sony TV and VCR).
