Question:
Hi
I am looking for somewhere either on or offline (either a national chain or somewhere in the Manchester area) where I can buy a cheap men's mountain bike and a helmet + padlock + lights would be useful too.
It doesn't have to be anything flash just as long as it doesn't fall to pieces / rust and is preferably new.
The purpose of this is twofold - to get me about (buses are abyssmal) and lose a few pounds (why sit in my room on an exercise bike?).
Thankyou very much in advance.

Hiya Rob
There was a thread on here that had post referring to bikes from sterling house but unfortunately i cant seem to find it, it may have got lost during the reshuffle
but the prices at Makro seem good, maybe worth a pop over to them, its not difficult to find either and day passes are readily available.
Good luck

I'd guess that all the sub £100 bikes (makro, sterling, bid-up) all come from very similar places. Suffice it to say there no-name bikes.
Bid-up TV is apprently in the process of being sued by the independent bike shop owners federation (or something like that) for hyping up the rrp of their bikes....

Hi, Iv'e bought 4 bikes from SterlingHouse.
They are mostly catalogue returns or end of line products, but most of them are well known brands.
I bought my son a Muddy Fox / Silverfox bike @ xmas cost £ 108 del'd. But he thinks we got it from the Argos book where it is £179.99.
