Question:
I just love reading but having read everything by the above authors plus others like Martine Cole, Madamsue Hellier Maggie Hudson, katherin Fox - the list is endless I have run out of authors to read - Has anyone read any good books lately that would be on the same sort of scale as the above - i.e. criminal investigation etc
If you have that would be great and if you haven't read any by the above authors then go for it - aww and the best book I have read for ages and ages is Karin Slaughters latest Triptych - excellent I just couldn't put it down

Patricia Cornwell (she first got me into these kind of books, I think her earliest books are the best)
James Patterson (always a great read, read most of his now and I am reading "Cradle and all" at the mo, Love ALEX CROSS, so humourous)
Harlan Coben (fantastic, god I cried reading "Gone for good" very satisfying though) The plots are often quite complex unlike Slaughters, I find myself reading earlier pages for things I've missed, wonderfully crafted, I often feel bereft after finishing his books. But don't take my word for it, read reviews
Jeffery Deaver (read Vanished man, amongest others, totally amazing)
Ian Rankin (what can I say, don't pass up this author but read the blub first to make sure your intrested in the subject matter)
I know some of these have been mentioned before but its doesn't do any harm to have them recommended again does it!
Don't limit yourself to one genre of books though, I have recently love Dan Browns 4 books (very unputdownable) also Alice Sebolds "Lucky" and "The lovely bones" lightheard reads from Marian Keyes and more traumatic ones from Frank McCourt, memoirs "Angelas ashes" and "'tis", Julie Gregory "Sickened" and Jane Elliot "The little prisoner". All very very good. Also don't miss "The curious incident of the dog in the night-time" by Mark Haddon for a really alternative read!

Thanks for that list, I've read all Harlan Coben, Karen Slaughter and Lee Child (all his Jack 'I want his babies' Reacher ones anyway) and am now ploughing my way through Robert Crais' Elvis Cole novels (I'd probably go with Pike but I'd be thinking about Reacher) so now you've given me a whole new list of folk to try.
I get so depressed when I finish a really good book worrying that nothing else will come close but if I get a really good book it is usually finished in one or two nights (I took a Harlan Coben to bed with me and next thing I knew it was 4am and the book was finished) so it is a bit of a vicious circle.

I can't believe no-one's mentioned Stephen Leather - absolutely riveting reads, every last one of them,
Next best for me is Lee Child, followed very closely by Mark Billingham, then Michael Connelly, Robert Crais, Harlan Coben, and most of the ones already mentioned (Gerritsen, Slaughter, PJ Tracy, Hayder etc etc).
Have just read Triptych (Slaughter) during this week and it really was fantastic, followed it up by Billingham's "Buried" and that was equally good.
