Question:
Hi All MSE Slimmers
The old Lose Weight Thread 5 was getting rather long (88 pages!!) so Pink has allowed me to start this new one. I hope that I'm not stepping on anyone's toes - Sorry if I am
You can still access the old thread although it will be locked shortly.
We are a friendly bunch, all with the same aim - to lose weight! There are many slimming plans being followed on here - SW, WW, Low Carb, Atkins to name a few so you will always find someone who is able to help out. Above all we are all here to offer support and motivation to each other.
Please do drop in to weigh in, cry on someones shoulder, offer advice, share new recipes, share success....
All welcome and Good Luck to everyone.
Edited to add:
Over on the Old Style Forum we have a recipe collection, called Losing Weight Recipes Collection (funnily enough! ) Hopefully you will find something here that suits your weight loss plan. Please do add more recipes to build up the collection. Here's a quick link to it Enjoy
Cheekymole has very kindly offered to index the recipes in the losing weight recipes thread to make them easier for everyone to find. To go to the index click

Keep your chin up Cots, it will come off but apparently always harder the 2nd time ( I can vouch for that)
Over on Lose Weight 5 I explained what my consultant had said this week - she said to only use the free foods from the food optimisong booklet for a quicker weight loss - I'm going to try it this week so will let you know if it really works.

CM - Just to check, and for others who are non-SW would you be able to give a typical "free" day
Ie - are you planning on only eating fruit, veg, eggs for this week. What sort of meals would you be planning? I ask because as I said I have only one more weigh in before my hols and would love a final boost to the weight loss before I go? If its not too hard to meal plan I might join you

ref OH birthday, can't you suggest you make him a nice romantic meal at home the SW way (but don't tell him) at least you'll be more in control

Cots, I too have only one more weigh in before my hols, where are you going?
Ref the free food - you still need to have your healthy a and healthy bs but only eat free foods stated in the food optimising book or on the website under "eat and slim", "free foods". i.e. although mullerlights are free, give them a miss for a week etc.
I hope I've explained that well enough, if not give us a shout and I'll try harder!

Lordy. You step away from the computer for a little while and come back and everything has changed.
Just ate half of the lemon chickpea cake. Very nice indeed and only like 3.5 sins for the whole thing. Really pleased so thanks to Cheekymole for the recipe again! will be buying more chickpeas!
On the subject of free food to optimise i would agree with that. I tend to stick to free foods and only have syns if i need them for the recipes. It's not that hard to do so as so much quorn stuff is free. Also the success express principle is to basically have more superfree type foods than the other free food such as potatoes and pasta.
I stuffed myself with quorn mince, beans, broccoli, cabbage and all the other speedy free foods and decreased my potato and pasta portions and found it very successful. I don't plan to do it every week as i looooove pasta and chips but i figured i'll do it everytime i need a boost.
I think the basic theory to why it works is the speedy free foods are extra low energy density foods and some are so low in calories that you may use up more calories preparing, cooking and eating them than are contained in the food!
Went to aqua-aerobics for the first time last night and rather enjoyed it. I'm aching all over today though (helped by the fact i was doing lots of lifting and stuff on sunday) so it's definately making my muscles work.
Well done on losses all. Hello to new losers.

Glad you like it Jeni.
I have a sponge recipe to post later.
I've also just remembered a yummy veggie recipe which I promise to dig out for all you veggies (syn free if I remember rightly)
I do have a fave recipe which is v. quick and easy.
Smash buttery flat on a plate. Pour over a tin of spagetti hoops sprinkle with 42g half fat cheddar and grill until it bubbles and browns. It really is yummy and filling and only uses 1 a or b, the rest is free. Go on try it, takes 5 minutes and dead filling

It's Smash but it's called smash buttery (I get it from Asda) and it's far creamier than ordinary smash

I was looking for help with broadband, so don't know how I ended up here - but am v excited to find a SW/weight loss thread! I lost about two stone last year, then stopped going cos I was bored with the SW consultant, and haven't lost anything since January.
Spag bol with Quorn is excellent, and if you add lots of mushrooms it makes it go further (have very hungry son!!). Also v filling and comforting for bad days - slice potatoes and put in shallow dish, pour some vegetable stock in to come about half way up. Cover and microwave until tender, then sprinkle with cheese (Sainsburys Good for you mature cheddar is nice) and put under grill until brown and bubbly. Can serve with Quorn sausages and lots and lots of veg.

Don't forget ......................if you are buying Quorn regulary, you can send off your receipts and get a £3 voucher off next products. I can't find anywhere in the T&C's that says its only once per household, so looks like as long as you buy the products you'll get a refund voucher.
Says you have to purchase 6 products in one calandar month and send in till receipts.
Sent mine off yesterday, so will wait and see what happens.

And a fridge full of quorn sausages (are the different flavours all free too??), pots of quark, quorn mince, and also tin tomatoes, pasta and rice!
I think I bought about 4 quorn products so will save my receipt to send off to get my voucher! thanks for the tip!
Thanks for the recipe tips all!!
