platium diamond solitaire ring WANTED

Question:
I'm after a platium diamond solitaire ring around £1000,where would be the best place to look? I want value for money and I feel the high street jewellers might be selling (in the words of Mr Ratner) crap.
Looking forward to the advice.

There is a fantastic diamond shop in a little villiage called bourton-on -the-water ,depending on where in the country you are its well worth a day out there i have 2 rings from there both 1crt each the triple stone ring was £799 and the eternity ring was £899....its a lovely place and the diamond shop is fantastic and very resonably priced

I bought my wife a belated engagement ring for Christmas (we've been married nearly 10 years but couldn't afford an engagement ring back then) from
Don't let the name put you off, it's not some East London wide boy, I actually dealt with a very nice lady who gave me loads of advice. Wifey was very impressed with the ring and the diamond is very high quality (all the diamonds are properly certified and you get to choose from their stock).
When the ring arrived my wife decided she'd prefer a yellow gold band rather than the white gold I'd ordered and they changed the band over for about £20.
Good luck.

Good luck. I too can highly recommend Diamondgeezer, it's their shop/workshop in Bourton-on-the-Water. I bought two platinum and diamond wedding rings from them. They cost a total of £1,300 and had an independent valuation of just under £2,000.
I actually bid for one ring on their Ebay website and enquired whether they could supply two. They then called me and asked what exactly I was looking for. They then said rather than buying the Ebay item, which was a return, they would supply two brand new, made to order rings. Their website is very informative and you can track the progress of your order online.
In my opinion they are a highly professional outfit, and I would highly recommend them.

Where are you based? Tru the jewellery quarter in Birmingham or the Diamond Trade Centre in Manchester, save yourself a nice tidy packet over high street.

forgot to mention on my post before that both rings have been valued at £1500 each .....

Or you could try:
or the Ratner site!
But remember the 3 C's (colour, clarity and cut) - these really do effect the price you pay and the value of the product you buy!

First of all get yourself a diamond education, the cost is based on cut, colour and clarity. Don't get to hung up on clarity, most diamonds have flaws and as long as it can't be seen with the naked eye you will be find. Cut, the best cut for the best sparkle is the brilliant cut, called because it has lots of little edges that the light can bounce off. Colour is quite important, on the whole most jewellers carry (h) which is quite an acceptable colour but the further up the alphabet the whiter, so g is better than h etc
If you have the ring made it works out cheaper than buying it off the shelf. Off the shelf rings have markups for, time in window, insurance etc. So basically the same diamond in the same setting can cost a couple of hundred pounds more if its already made.
I had my earrings made, 54.5cts each, g/h colour, clarity SI1/SI2, platinum settings. Same earrings from cooldiamonds were a about £900 more.
Bear in mind that once you get to about 75pts then the price jumps quite a bit. Plus if you get it mounted on a US style setting the diamonds stand out much more than on our british settings. US settings are much higher, have just had my engagement reset in the US. By the way the diamond in my ring came from Mr Ratner and it is a beautiful diamond and much remarked upon.

Hi, I also want to buy a either loose diamond or diamond ring, but it seems that the UK prices are higher than those in US. Therefore I was wondering whether it was safe to buy valuable diamonds in US online shops.Any other suggestions? Thanks.
