Question:
Hi, I'd really like to buy a video camera to capture our baby girl (2 months old) as she grows up.
However despite being very computer and digital camera savvy, I know not much about video cameras...
I understand the basics of digital 8, miniDV, dvd and memory type video cameras but I don't know what constitutes a good or bad one!
Ideally I want to be able to either download video onto a PC, or more often play on tv/dvd. Budget understandably is not a lot but willing to pay for something reliable. I've seen Sony ones online for around the £200 mark...
Any suggestions on a good spec or model?
Answers:
I had an SLR camera and a DV video recorder but have chosen to swap them both for a Canon Powershot S2 IS digi camera that has a video facility on it. I found it a pain carrying everything that's needed for videoing and still photo's. This one gives me the best of both worlds and has reduced my luggage weight dramatically for the up and coming holiday

I've tried using my digital stills camera (a canon powershot) for video but the result is blocky and jittery. Plus only get a min or so on the flash card. Hence looking for a proper video camera. Will mostly get used at home anyway so size not such an issue.
Answers:
Pretty much any sony will be good. dv models are good for getting onto your pc for editing
