Question:
Looking for 'Hoover type', old orange Vax ( Henry type) has just died. Was very heavy work to use hence 'Hoover type' requirement.

We tried the vax rapide and found the sponge filter started breaking up on the second use so returned it, but now im looking at the still reading up on it so no decision made yet.

Update we went out today and bought the £99.99 from comet and came home and washed main rug in living room and it has came up great and its a differant filter to the vax rapide delux.

It seems that the lower power Vax machines need a motorised brush bar rather than the static type for this model. My thoughts are less parts to go wrong and similar technology to old cylinder Vax we had for some 10 years. Looking at pro version for upholstery cleaning as well as carpets. Go shop direct have it for £113.99 with free delivery.

we got the vax rapide xl, and can't fault it. With 3 kids and a goldern retreiver it works very well. eays to put together and take apart, even the missus can do and she's bonde!
we had the old style vax thing and that was hard work but this makes it so much easier.

That was the first one we had and the filter broke up so we exchanged it for another and again the filter broke up and mother in laws filter too has started breaking up so i would avoid unless they have changed the design, in the powerjet the filter is in a differant position and in a case so hopefully wont have that problem.
Also 3 things with the power jet carpet came up so much cleaner than when done with the one you are looking at, and the carpet felt dry enough to sit on which with a toddler running and tumbling was excellent and motor wise the one i have is 900w against 600w on the other one.

The pictures all look the same, the one i had is which i now know as the v026 but the one you are looking at is the and the one i got is the v028 but without the tools. So from the price you found on that v028 with the tools it is only £14 more to have the tools which is a great find and wishing i had found that one, when i was looking it was £140.

Just used new Vax V-028 pro and has cleaned our kitchen - very heavy traffic - carpet really well. Was glad that I went for the pro 'cos tools helped get right to the carpet edge and into those awkward places. Clean and dirty tanks were both easy to remove and replace. Next jobs - stairs and hall!

The V-028 has really come down in price. I paid £159.99 for mine over a year ago. Really pleased with the results but carpet does seem to get dirty quicker after cleaning???
