Best deals on car recovery?

Question:
I am with AA and pay £44 a year, are there better deals out there with other companies?
Thanks

Hello deefadog

I'll move your thread over to the 'Motoring & Public Transport' board, where it should get more views and responses.

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see ) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email .

I've just changed to Autoaid.
Gem wanted £72 for the same cover.
I've got three cars and it covers me in whatever I drive, even the 32 year old one!
No web site so call them on 01277 235500. They're very friendly too!

Thanks all, excellent as usuall!!!!!
Auto aid looks top choice, but apart from the £32 a year what do you pay for when you break down and how do you claim it back - i am a little lost on this part of it!
Thanks again

or you phone Autoaid - who will organise a local recovery agent - and you still pay them.
Then contact Auto-aid - who will send you a cheque.

First Call cost about £42 a year with full recovery service and no pay up front.
Check martin's article.

The local recovery agents always take credit card, so unless you are likely to have no available credit, Auto Aid is the best option. They always refund by return post - i.e. within a week from making the claim - so you can pay the credit card off when the bill arrives.
The actual amount you have to pay depends on what happens - we were recovered from Monmouth to Leicestershire and the bill was quite large (£328)!
