How on earth do I find out ewhat is in the Ikea sale?The nearest shop is about 30 miles from me via train and buses.Long way to go if there is nothing I need.Do they ever add any of their items to the website?

Ikea dont put the sale items online.
I went to the sale on Thursday and ended up spending over £100 - only went for a 12.99 mirror - lol
It is a good sale though - the summer sale is always the best. Lots of items half price.
If you go towrds the end of sale they reduce some items even further so bargains to be had

Actually, one of the funniest things I saw in a long while was in an Ikea car park. Two women were trying to fit a double, bed (ie base & mattress) into their Vauxhall Nova (with a young boy in a car seat) - priceless & even more so due to the look of complete bemusement as to why it wouldn't fit.

went to the Milton Keynes store yesterday... wasn't overly impressed with the sale items - not a huge amount of things on sale ....might be better in a couple of weeks time when they reduce things even further....

I agree with purplepurple, Bristol had not very much in sale - I'd think twice about travelling 60 miles and making it worthwhile with bargains.

I find it astonishing people would travel 30 miles on buses & trains!

Lol, don't be such a misery. I went with my daughter yesterday (yes on a Saturday!!). It took us almost 30 mins to find a parking space. Once in the store, you had a job to move to the left or right cos people were shoulder to shoulder, manoeuvring a trolley was a nightmare. Then once at the till (and we picked the shortest) we were behind somebody who must have been furnishing an entire house, their bill came to £600+. Then you've got the added pain of getting the gear to the car, queuing for the lifts to the top level and struggling to get it in (though we have a Shogun, so we weren't short of room) while a male member of staff lurked about watching us with that look in his eye that said 'you're on your own ladies, don't ask me to help'.
On second thoughts Hank, bring on the drill!!!!

Agree with you entirely even though I do spend quite a bit of money there. My nearest store is about 30 miles away and 95% of the staff tend to be complete muppets. But... for many things it's hard to find an equivalent item of the same quality elsewhere for anywhere near the price.

Am I the only one who literally gets lost like a 3 year old child in there? Sometimes, I've turned to look at the latest 'drstovne' or other such fantasy word and my whole family have disappeared. At which point I cry like a baby and get the nice man to call my mum's name over the tannoy. It's an absolute labryinth, the one in Leeds is just unbearably large. It scares me.
I do like the weird room though where they shove all the stuff that's a bit broken and reduced, then you can go in and work out how you could make it a (kind of) serviceable piece of furniture. Happy days.

I find the best time to go to Ikea is about 9, know thats not possible for everyone, if ou have children that should be in bed and so on. Gateshead's my closest and have always found weeknights the best time to go. It can be a nightmare, loosing people, not to mention spending a blinkin fortune!!! All those, its only 4.99, 1.99's sharp add up. I did get a cracking bargain last year though, bought 2 triple wardrobes, sideboard, table 6 chairs, 'puter desk and chair, towels, picture frames, bookshelves... sold my 1bed flat moved into a 3bed house needed to fill it. When I got o the checkout the young lad looked pretty flustered and ended up not charging me for my table, whahey, scored for a £200 table- thus I love Ikea!! I've found the plants and pots to be very cheap too- compared to garden centres. I'm lucky, my bro is a delivery driver so he always comes in handy having the big merc type transit van!! I ALWAYS flick through catalogue and make a list, what I want, and what I'd like. Find it helps, but then again I have lists for everything!!

Was at ikea mk yesterday, not impressed with the sale items, grey rug, a coffee set, some plastic picture frames, one of those paper covered lamps but a selection of coffee tables. Didn't bother going right round so not sure what's going on with beds, sofas etc. Bargains in the marketplace and accessories area very thin on the ground.

Trouble is like someone else said, I end up feeling like a small child lost in a huge toy shop! I am so excited when I get there, until low and behold hubby's got bored and wandered off leaving me stranded amongst ten million unknown people sqaubbling over the last bargains. Now I love to have a mooch around and find all the hidden gems but as soon as hubby says those immortal words "lets get round here as quickly as possible" I know I've had it. I almost always leave with a raging headache and the biggest strop on known to man. But hey, light at the end of the Ikea tunnel .... MIL also loves Ikea and we are planning to go on our own next time - she's a bargain hunter like myself - and best of all I get to leave hubby at home with the kids!

The last two sales have been very poor ,went to edmonton which is 1 mile from my home on friday and what was in the sale was very poor, great big hairy white rugs odd looking picture frames.
We were among loads of people just walking thru the tills muttering "what a waste of time"
Had the same experience as the family above had four wardrobes on the trolly with two bathroom cabinets and some of those wire and plastic trays, paid thought "this sale is great " when we checked the bill only paid for two wardrobes none of the doors and only a few of the baskets and rails and yes it was very busy and she as rushing about like a blue !!!!! fly
