an external unit for oem hardrives can be had for under 30 quid , a 120 gig hd for 44 quid , makes 74 quid for 3 times what you need....and usb2.
Check the computer shops in the area , aria , dabs , scan etc.Del of course will hamper it quite a bit.

I just bought a load of Icy Box's (Maxtor) external housings both firewire and USB2 with Segate 160gb IDE hard drives for £85~.
The housings can be had from £20 (USB2 only) to £30 (USB2 & Firewire).
With the drives its up to you on what you spend - though 160gb - 200gb are the best price per GB around
But buying sepeart housing / drive is by far the cheapest way to do it !!!
Mine were from
Good luck

Do you know the direct links to the above site.
Only looking for 40GB External harddrive, maybe even 80GB depending on the price.
Thanks

You can only buy aldi's offers instore and they are generally limited.
The website is , but they no longer advertise the hard drive.
Its a bit hit and miss wether you would actually get one now instore - but worth the trip to a store to see.

you might want to rethink this.
If you do a £ to GB (GigaByte) comparison 40/80gb drives are very expensive. For just a few pounds more you can double or greater the capicity.
For example (all from aria and all cheapest models)
size - price inc VAT - price per gb
40gb £29.67 inc (74p)
80gb £36.72 inc (45p)
120gb £46.41 inc (38p)
160gb £52.88 inc (32p)
200gb £70.44 inc (35p)
250gb £102.23 inc (40p)
300gb £128.08 inc (42p)
Icy Box USB2.0 Hard Drive Enclosure £22.33 inc
Icy Box USB2.0 & FW Hard Drive Enc £34.08 inc
(I have the USB2 & Firewire model and am VERY impressed with the speed increase with transfering data with 0%~ CPU usage )
And these things are VERY easy to plug together. The manual is very clear and concise
Make sure you do have a USB2 connector at least else i found speeds of less then 1mb per sec with USB1 !!!
Hope that helps.
