19" TFT Monitors

Question:
I'm really interested in getting a good 19" TFT display as my eyes have started to go beyond the point of no return from glare and UV radition. I want something cheap, but of decent quality...yeah right! ...oh well we live in hope eh?
Anyway, if anyones got any ideas, it'd be most appreciated!
Thanks!

have the best prices I've seen
there are threads on both the Grab-it and the
Cheap-buys boards dedicated to their 17" TFTs

and with their poor afterservice , as with their competitor microdirect. Also make sure you know what dead pixels and iso standards are regarding them.

Point to note with 19' tft's, they have the same resolution as 17' tft's so do not give such a good detailed picture as 17' ones do. They are both 1280x1024. personally i would go for the 17' or the 20' inch as it has 1600x1200 resolution.

Ive read there ISO policy; basically it states there can be up to 5 dead pixels per 19" monitor at Class II; which is the "class" type aria are offering; howover customer feedback for that item on their website seem to suggest alot of the time there are no dead pixels.
Anyway; I'd go for the 20" one but I think theyd break the bank lol £250 is my ultimate max! lol

I am interested in having a 'read through it' as I cannot understand how a policy can state that a product is allowed to be a little bit broken. We are not talking cosmetic marks on a case, we are talking dead pixels on a VDU. What if these 5 pixels were grouped together right slap bang in the middle of the screen?
Totally ridiculous, if I had one dead pixel on a brand new screen, I would ensure there were far more before it was inspected on return.

PS, does anyone know how to 'damage' a few pixels of a screen to ensure it is covered by warranty without question? Maybe by use of magnets, batteries, static etc.

Does anyone have a link to this ISO policy? Aria's policy on TFT Dead Pixel Allowances is here .

The one I got from Aria in August only had one dead pixel on red, hardly every noticeable. In fact I cant even see it at mo.
Good point made about the reolution of a 19". I want to upgrade this one later in the year, however I want a higher resolution than the 1290x1024 that this one has.

I wouldn't be too bother myself if it was hardly noticable. I had a laptop that had 2 dead pixels that were fairly central. The pixels always appeared white or whitish and my desktop wallpaper was always very dark and made the pixels always highly visible. Dell (with only a little reluctance) replaced the screen.
