Question:
due to lack of space we are looking for a loft bed for my sons room, have seen one in argos for £165. anybody know of a better deal? thanks
Answers:
Ikea are always worth a look, but bear in mind their mattresses are not the standard size, so you'd need to use their bedding, or flat sheets.

MFI currently have a studio/sofa bed for less than £100 . The catch is that it only comes in lilac and the single mattress is extra. If you want it in blue its also extra. I was seriously thinking about it myself for my son but they didnt have the lilac futon on display to see if it was a "girlie" lilac . :-/ Ive got my eye on one on eBay now. :
Search for Maverick on MFI's website.

the argos playpine shorty range is brill for smaller rooms- 2'6" instead of 3' wide, and not quite as long as a normal bed either. we have these in the childrens' rooms. although they are smaller, an adult could still fit in one.
we have the loft bed for 8yr old, middle height one for 4 yr old and standard height for 2 yr old. All recommended, but the loft one really opens the room up spacewise.
Think they were about £100 to £120 each delivered, including mattress, and tent on the mid height one. The only thing i dont like is the steps which arent comfortable to stand on for long, but are fine for kids as they dont weigh much and dont stand on them for long anyway!

My OH made one for my daughter by bolting her bed frame to the wall and making legs and an outer casing from planed wood. She was at guide camp when he did it and when she came home she thought we had been out and bought it.
