Question:
I used to have a ceramic pot for casserole, which can be used on gas hob. But it broke last weekend. Could not find any replacement, only those ued in the oven. Noticed cast iron pot, but normaly expensive.
Anybody could help me out here: ceramic pot on gas hob or reasonable priced cast iron pot.

In Spain they sell very cheap glazed ceramic casserole dishes with or without lids. I think they're called cazuelos. If you know anyone going over soon - they're sold everywhere and the most cheaply in the markets.
These can be used directly on the hob (after an initial treatment). I have seen them in Focus DIY/No Frills - they were still v. cheap.

The most well known is Le Creuset. Most Debenhams have them, best time to buy is on a 20 or 25% off day, or one of the out of town retail villages, like Clarkes village in Street.

We've got a full set of PYROFLAM dishes etc.
Seem to remember buying some of it from Sainsburys and some from ASDA.
It was a few years ago - glass lids guaranteed for 2 years - the dish itself guaranteed for TEN !
Can use on any hob or in the oven etc.

I have a Pyroflam dish too, it is great for dishes where the meat needs browning before cooking in a sauce etc as you only need one dish/pan.
I also have one of the Spanish flatish dishes which can be used on the hob but I have never used it on a hob only in the oven.
