Answers:
Tiny has got a bad reputation.

I think they amalgamated with "TIME COMPUTERS" if so TIME were without doubt the WORST company that I have ever dealt with. Avoid them at all costs!
Answers:
had not probs with my time computer.. there customer service number is a bit extortionate but any probs i have had i went into the store and got it sorted
Answers:
Tiny were a subsidiary of Time computers, who went bust a while ago. Tiny then started up again as a purely "online" company as far as I know.
Time had a terrible reputation and I know of a few people who had nothing but trouble with them ... not only their computers, but also their abysmal customer services.
However, I cannot vouch for the "new" Tiny company.
Answers:
Tiny stands for "Tough, Its Now Yours", which sums up their attitude to customer service.
Answers:
I agree with the above.
I wouldn't touch them either.
The problem in the past has been with the poor quality parts they use, I believe.
Have you looked online to see if you can get a similar spec elsewhere for the same price?
However good luck if you go ahead with your purchase, I haven't seen postage codes anywhere though. :-/

Does any manufacturer really use quality parts any more?!
The reason why Dell are so cheap all of a sudden is because, I have heard, they are starting to use cheap components too!
Apart from building a computer yourself I don't see how you can be sure you are getting quality components in your ready made mass produced PC....

You could always have one built for you to your own spec. by a reputable shop/company. I know people who've done this and been very pleased with the result. Don't Gateway do this. ???

Some manufacturers will use branded parts as opposed to generic unbranded parts, which are supposed to be of lesser quality.
When it comes down to it, I agree there's probably a bit of a leap of faith involved as like the poster above says, unless you build it yourself.......... :-/

I bought a TIME computer in one of my weaker shopping moments. !The computer is fine and worked for 16 months now, no probs.
Customer service however SUCKS, and they lied to me, telling me I had this that and the other, but when I went to get it, they told me it was'nt that way at all, I had misheard!!
How can you mis hear. !5 years free anti-virus which ended after 12 months?
optical mouse which was really ball type mouse.
The only thing I go there for now is the cheap HP ink cartridges

MESH have a reputation for using quality bits. Their PCs are excellent value for money in my experience.

I purchased a pc from Time. Had to pay £49.99 delivery, I aked to collect it myself but was told I had to have it delivered. My pc was faulty and I was told I had no option but to purchase a recovery disc £59.99-which didn't solve the problem.
Had to ring premium rate number. They wanted to charge me to fix the fault (or £200+ for extended cover). I saw a solicitor who said all these companies are the same (Time, Dixons, etc.).
I made one last attempt and must have got lucky and connected to a nice operator because they collected it for me. But I was lucky.
These companies make a massive profit and are quite happy to take your money, but don't want anything to do with you afterwards.

To be honest this doesn't look like much of a deal to me. Yes, its cheap but the spec is dire and the battery life is quoted as 1 hour which is flippin' rubbish! I wouldn't touch this with a bargepole, especially given who's selling it. For an extra £40 (or the same including the p&p that Tiny want to charge) you could get a Dell Inspiron 1150 (N01115) delivered to your door:
Intel® Celeron® Processor (2.60GHz, 128KB L2 Cache, 400MHz FSB)
15" XGA screen
1Y CAR (Collect and Return)
512MB 266MHz DDR RAM (2x256) (Was 256MB!) Special Offer
40GB (5400RPM) ULTRA ATA-100 Hard Drive
Fixed Internal 24x CDRW/ 8x DVD Combo Drive with Software
Internal 56K v.92 Capable Fax Modem
8 Cell 65WHr LI-ION Primary Battery (65W/hr) offering up to 3.5 hours battery life
D-Series 65W AC Adatper
Dell USB Optical Mouse
Microsoft® Works 7.0
Microsoft® Windows® XP Home Edition SP2(no media)
Audio jacks: Line out (external speakers/headphone) and external microphone
15-pin monitor connector
2 x USB 2.0 (Universal Serial Bus) compliant 4-pin connectors
Kensington Lock socket
RJ11 and RJ45 connector
This deal isn't on for long as it has an extra £30 off at the moment (ends 26/1/05). It already has free delivery and double-memory as standard (both end 05/01/2005).

We bought our PC package from Tiny back in the 90's when they were £1,150 for a Pentium P2 350MHz package.
I was supposed to get 12 months interest free credit, but actually got 6 years (and counting) interest free credit as, to date, they have not invoiced me ;D. No wonder they went out of business!!
The only fault I've had was with the 150W power supply unit, which I replaced myself with a 300W unit (thats how they cut corners). Other than that, everything else has worked perfectly and I'm still using it on a daily basis.
Whilst I sympathise with others, I can't complain myself.

The poster is after a laptop. You cannot have a laptop built to personal spec by a shop or company.
If you want a laptop the best thing to do is decide on what you really require from your laptop and then have a look at a number of manufacturers.
Some of the better known are Acer, Mesh, HP, Sony Toshiba etc etc. You can have a look here or you could also get hold of a few computing mags that review laptops.

Sorry to hear you probs with ur pc but its quite funny that your solicitor is saying that all those companys take your money as they charge so much just to send letters out to companys. Bought my pc from dixons £399 with the monitor collected from the store for FREE came with FREE recovery discs and looking at the paper work if i have a problem it will only cost the price of a national rate call to get it fixed. Happy Days.......
