10ft Trampoline

Question:
Hi, am wanting to buy a 10ft tramp and enclosure for my kids, but am getting a bit jittery having read lots about inferior models / accidents etc.
How much should i be looking to spend to get a safe one, and how will I know what to look for?
Originally looked at the argos / woolworths ones and am now unsure. Have promised Kids one but dont want to compromise on safety - on the other hand didn't want to spend more than £200.
Please advise anyone

We have had the woolworths one for two years and have had no problems whatsoever. It still looks in great condition no rusting or wear.

Hi,
thanks for coming back to me - I will have another look at the Woolies one. In your opinion is the 1oft one big and sturdy enough for an adult (albeit occassional use) or would that be pushing it.
Thanks again

We got the 13 foot one from Argos last year and had no problems with it. It's just been put up again this year and still looks fab. It can easily take the weight of an adult and does so frequently!!!!

Are you stuck to 10ft because of the size of your garden? I ask because we bought a 14ft model and have had no accidents (touch wood) but I think that this is partly because it is 14 ft and so the kids have plenty of room to fall about before they get to the edge.
See if you can try one out first - even if you don't end up buying that particular make. At one time TP toys used to have their outdoor toys on display so you could try them before buying. Go have a bounce on the different size trampolines and I think you will see in a few minutes if you feel 10ft will be big enough.

(Hope I have done that right)
If you are stuck to 10ft, I would suggest a safety net.
And don't just save it for the kids to play on!! (But only while you're sober!)

Hi,
thanks for your advice. Size is the issue really - whilst we have a nice big garden only a small part of it is flat - the rest slopes away (not ideal for a trampoline!!!!). I originally thought about an 8ft and soon realised this would be limited. I would get the nets anyway regardless of size as I have a very Kamikaze 6 year old boy but maybe need to get the tape measure out again and consider a 12ft.
Thanks again

I would definatly go for as big as your garden can take. We have an 8 ft one and wish it could be bigger but our garden isn't wide enough. My kids have to take turns or bounce only in the middle.

No trampoline is safe. Siting it on a flat surface well away from obstructions and using a safety net help make it safer but trampolining is an inherently dangerous sport. The safest environment for trampolining is in a sports centre under the supervision of a qualified coach and with trained spotters. I would strongly suggest that you follow the advice of the British Gymnastics Association by taking/ having your children take some proper lessons in trampolining in order to learn how to trampoline safely. Do not attempt to somersault without the supervision of a qualified coach.
I suggest you read the advice provided by BG available from their website under downloads;trampoline gymnastics technical committee;BG garden trampolines statement.

I ordered a 10ft one on Saturday
It is the same as the one in Woolworths, however Woolworths wanted £25 delivery and Outdoor Toys Direct was FREE delivery.
Argos were out of stock.
Hope that helps.

My local focus hasn't got stock of the £99 8ft trampoline and I can't find it online. As anyone else managed to locate it online? If anyone knows of any good deals for 10ft or 8ft it would be much appreciated?
Thanks
