Question:
Hi
My son (and his dad ) would like to buy an Xbox steering wheel which works with Outrun 2 in the January sales.
Are pedals worth getting or is it best to have all the buttons on the wheel.
Any advice welcomed.

I bought an Xbox in august and got the steering wheel and pedals included in the deal.I don't play many racing games but when I do I get on a lot better using the hand controller than the wheel(my wheel has buttons on it too)If you use the pedals on a wooden floor they tend to move about a lot.....on carpet I suppose you wouldn't have that problem.
I know its each to their own but I prefer using the hand controller.

Its a ''play on'' wheel.You can get hand controllers of this make too.

Unfortunately there aren't any good wheels for the Xbox. The best one is the Thrustmaster 360 Modena Force GT. It's downside is the 20 degree dead zone in the middle of it's range. This means that you've got to turn the wheel 10 degrees either side of top to get anything to happen. If you go a little bit sideways then you have to correct a long way past the natural angle that you would in a car, similarly with making small adjustments to keep the car going straight. Children don't have a problem with this, they just get used to it, but adults who can drive will find this so frustrating.

Yeha....my thoughts exactly.I tend to over steer alot to get the car to do anything.Then by doing that it starts to fishtail and before I know it Iv'e crashed... ;D..I get on a lot better using the hand controller.

We got a steering wheel a while ago for our xbox and its now in the cupboard ! Cost us £40 at the time as we thought it might improve our driving but it made it worse. They just dont work well with the xbox as prevoius OPs have said.
If your husband is really insisting on getting one try ebay as they are much cheaper- but to be honest definately not worth it !
