Question:
hi guys,
when the field in the ODS is empty the report in BEX is showing '#' symbol. we need to supress that in the output.please help.

Folks,
We did try out all the options for this case. With Bex analyzer reports using VB and for Web based environment using java script . Couple of hassles doing this way is the front ent OLAP processing time increases to a big extent reducing the performance in both the BEx and Web environment...particularly when having detailed reports. The other thing was when in the web environment with a download to excel/csv option, the scripting on the web works but the download part shows the "#". Any other workarounds in this case? Would be interesting to know.

Answer:
Right click on the characteristic, choose Restrict.
Transfer the value '#' to the right side.
Right click and choose "Exclude from selection"
Click ok.
