How to delete records from PSA by scheduler?

Question:
Hello,
I would like to know how to delete records from PSA by scheduler? Is it possible in BW 3.0B?
Thanks in advanced,
Edward
Answer:
hi,
try scheduling a process chain to delete..
Answer:
If you have done it 2.x, then you shouldn't be asking this question here.
context menu of the specific PSA will bring up the options where you will find 'Delete PSA..' Choosing that will take you to the PSA delete scheduler.
You can use this if you are not comfortable with process chains.

but it doesn't work for Data Marts.
If you work with the InfoPackages that are automatically generated you can indeed have problems with incorporating them into a Process Chain.
The solution is to manually create an InfoPackage. The manually created packages can be incorporated in Process Chains and their PSA tables can be included in deletion tasks too.

Hi,
I wonder if anyone can please set my mind at rest regarding Datamart PSAs? Since they don't appear to be cleaned out with the regular PSA clean-up jobs we have scheduled, some of my collegues suspect that they must have some 'special' purpose which is different to 'regular' PSAs. In my opinion we should delete the data in these datamart PSAs exactly as we would with 'regular' PSA data.
The reason we regard the datamart PSAs with some suspicion is that the standard business content datamart infopackages are set to 'update data targets' only so we would not expect to see any PSA data created. However, we do still get PSA entries when we move from eg ODS to ODS or ODS to Cube via a datamart infopackage. Does anyone know whether there is a reason why the PSA gets populated for these datamart infopackages or is it just a bug? I would have thought that if we already have the data in an ODS and we want to transfer it to another ODS then we don't need to also keep it in the PSA. Does anyone have an ideas of scenarios where we would need to use the PSA to update the datatarget 2 instead of using data target 1 to update datatarget 2?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Answer:
I guess that if you connect an ODS to two other data targets, both of these datatargets can have a separate start-routine. Both start-routines have their own data-package where you can apply filters or even add records.
I wouldn't be suprised to learn that for the update of datatargets from an ODS a copy of the active data is stored in a PSA to enable datatargets to handle their own private data-package.

Hi,
I found some additional info from OSS which is that there can be 2 types of requests in the datamart PSA:
1. Change log request which starts with ODSR*
2. PSA request which starts with REQU*
So there is no bug which creates PSA requests although you choose to update data targets only. I simply mistook the change log requests for PSA requests. OSS 643880 explains somewhat about whether or not to delete change log requests.
